It's not a fluky coincidence
that the Leafs are better WITHOUT Clarkson(14-6-1 without him in the line up
compared to 16-16-5 with him). He's been absolutely horrible. His quick wrist
shot goal last night was, hopefully, a sign of things to come. Perhaps if he
keeps getting in the slot and Kadri sets him up he'll start to earn a bigger
fraction of the money they're paying him.

I cringe lately whenever Coach Carlyle puts
on Phaneuf and Franson together, especially on the PP. Did you notice that when
those two molasses skating players are on together the opposition PK team has
more scoring changes than the Leafs PP, every game recently. Why Carlyle can't
see this and always wants to shoot himself in the foot is bewildering. If you
want to keep Mr. Slowpoke on the ice, pair each one up with Reilly or Gardiner
on PP unit#1 and PP unit#2. That would be ideal.

I know that Phaneuf takes a lot of heat
from the fans, but deservedly so. On any NHL team your best players (and
highest paid) need to play like your best players and Phaneuf is not. He looked
awful again last night. He was on the ice for at least 4 of the 7 goals and
could not win a 1 on 1 battle to save his life. Would Phaneuf be a top 2 defenseman on
any other team??? He is a # 6 at best and deserves about 15 minutes less
playing time per game. He was just brutal out there again last night as usual.
WHAT is Leaf Management seeing is this guy????

How many Leafs does it take to change a flat tire...Only
One...unless its a blow out...then the whole team shows up.

This is just the law of averages playing
out. You can't get outshot every game and be a winning team. Sooner or later it
catches up to you. This just isn't a very good team. Carlyle
is the problem. He is old school and it can only work for a short period of
time and the team had better win in that time. Look at Anaheim for example.

Is it so bad for a gym to listen to the
people who pay his wages? I think not. I would wager that over 80 % of the city
of Toronto did
NOT want Pylon even signed for 3 years as witnessed by all the negative
comments made on air, in newspapers, and online. This signing should and
hopefully cost Nonis his job. He could have packaged Pylon and a few others
such as Kadri, maybe Riemer, Ranger and yes Kessel to another gm for another
defence an and centre and draft picks and start the semi re-build with the core
and young players they have in the system. Now he is stuck for 7 years with
useless pylon and if something isn't done soon this franchise is doomed. It is
time for the fans to STOP going to the games until upper management commits to
winning and not $$$$$$$.

The Leafs will always be in a state of
chaos as long as Nonis and Carlyle are there. They are part of another Leafs
management group that points fingers at players, scratch their heads and would
never hold themselves accountable. The Leafs need to once again get rid of the
entire management group and their crusty coach in order to take a step in the
right direction.

Reason the Leafs are struggling, they are
not that good. The $8 million dollar winger only plays in one direction. The
Captain cannot keep up with guys to the outside. The worst faceoff guy in the
League thinks he's a Superstar. The word 'team' isn't in their vocabulary, they
don't sacrifice for each other. ... they're the
Oilers of the east.

Wow, $7mil a year for a Phaneuf (pylon). I wonder how much Nonis is going to pay for new pucks. The leafs already used their 2 buyouts on Komisarek and Grabovski for this CBA. Even if the Cap is going up, that is really overpaying. They could have easily used that money to get someone better in the off-season, or used that money to lock-up some of their good young talent long-term

As a Leaf fan and I know you are here is a comment from Leaf nation:

I am a realistic leaf fan, not one who plans parades five games into the season. It doesn't matter if the leafs win the next five because due to their apparent inconsistency they would most likely lose the next five after that. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy when my team is doing well, i am sure we all do. But the fact of the matter is we all know they only do so well for so long. I don't only think there is just a problem with certain players they choose to play night in and night out (mclaren) who provide no offensive pressure, but clearly an issue with the coaching staff who is making these decisions. The leafs have been outplayed all season despite having a good start, these issues won't solve themselves. If they want to salvage their season they need to start making some changes now before its March and they are chasing the eighth place seed. And it is time to get "hyped" when the leafs have only three regulation wins in their last 19 games.

Nintendo started it all from controller vibration to inverted controller sticks. Did ppl forget the ugly shape of the original Xbox controller? It looked like a triple whooper with buttons. Then they decided to make it better for the 360 using the same diamond pattern buttons. They even copied the same letters X Y A B. I played with Wii U many times already and the Pro controller is way better than the 360 controller.

While I do agree that many game makers have decided to sacrifice one for the other, many games for the PC platform have managed to succeed where others have failed. There are numerous PC games that have both beautiful graphics and a story that the player quickly becomes immersed in, such as the popular Portal and Half Life series (never can figure out how to pluralize that word...)
Again and again, PC gaming companies continue to produce beautiful worlds with powerful plots. I, for one, think we are on the verge of a gaming revolution. Perhaps, one day, it will spread to the other consoles.

To be fair - they ALL do this. All of them. There are no belevolent, fun-loving, "we're gamers at heart" companies, if we're talking about the big 3 console makers. Nintendo has the closest thing in Myamoto - that guy has proven himself to be a flat-out genius again and again - but he still answers to the suits.
There is far too much fanboy sniping - but there always has been, and this goes back to what, the SNES/Genesis days, really. Personally I want to spend my money on a console that has good games, a good controller and i want the thing to last a long time without dying.
Every company has their pluses and minuses, no one is perfect, but they ALL exist for gathering as much profit as possible.

Right. We have a Wii for the family, but I have a good number of more mature games that I play on it that make good use of the controls. Plus, sports games: Pro Evolution Soccer on Wii is fantastic (my favorite sports game of all time) and the Tiger Woods golf games have been very good with the motion controls (other than the fact that TW in general has always been a good franchise that never quite achieves greatness, IMO).
Frankly, due to expense and the lack of time to play more mature games, I do most of my gaming on the Wii and the graphics don't bother me. I still play NES & SNES games, so I play a game for what it IS, not what it could be on another system. Graphics are important, but I'll put them secondary to gameplay any day. I think the majority of the gaming public would reverse that.

The Joker is not gone he is Running the Leafs.
With little roster turnover and Reimer still the team's No. 1 goaltender (for now), a defensive turnaround will likely have to stem from a change in philosophy.
Burke arrived in November of 2008. Toronto was coming off an 83-point season and hasn't eclipsed the 85-point mark or threatened for a playoff spot under Burke's leadership.
He's had nearly four years to get the Leafs headed in the right direction, but if his moves do not bear a playoff spot for a fourth straight season, will his job be in jeopardy? The Leafs hold the longest drought in the NHL at seven years, and an eighth year without a playoff series victory would tie the franchise for the fifth-longest stretch in NHL history.
Burke reportedly signed a six-year deal when he took the job nearly four years ago. There are no indications his job is on the line heading into this season, but another one that ends without a postseason trip could change that.

Great post Jeff. I would love to have the answers myself. Anyway, I think you are doing something good: Sending stuff and knoking doors. It may be the best way to test the waters and get known somehow. Anyway, I think passion (this case, videogame's passion) is a plus for a great community mannager. Good luck in your quest, dude.
